Makita Melbourne warehouse

Complete dust extraction system design, supply, installation and commissioning

Delivered for Makita's Melbourne warehouse project with a prominent Melbourne builder, this Dusttech project covered the full dust extraction scope from initial system design through to supply, installation and commissioning. The system was commissioned in March and built around the practical extraction needs of dedicated training and test-room areas.

The installation included the main dust extractor, duct routing, machine and bench extraction drops, flexible connections, exhaust fan integration and detailed coordination of room layouts. The project also included important dust extraction safety and performance considerations, including spark arrester integration as part of the overall system design.

The result was a clean, purpose-built extraction system designed from scratch for the site, with dedicated extraction points positioned to support Makita's training, testing and warehouse operations.

Regional Victoria milling shed - near Daylesford

High-flow dust extractor and major ducting installation

This regional Victoria milling shed project, located close to Daylesford, involved installation of a dust extractor selected to handle close to 18,000 m3/h of volumetric flow. The system was planned for 100% diversity, giving the customer the extraction capacity needed to support milling operations as the shed continues to grow.

The ducting run was significant, with two 400 mm main trunk lines entering the dust extractor from either side and a 500 mm main trunk line serving the broader shed. It was one of the more substantial Dusttech installation projects completed to date, both in ducting scale and extraction capacity.

The customer was very happy with the performance of the unit, giving the milling shed a strong new platform for expanding operations with better dust control and extraction coverage.

New build school - north-west Melbourne

Full new dust extraction system and ducting installation

Completed in late 2025 for a prominent Melbourne builder, this new-build school workshop project included Dusttech design and installation of a full dust extraction system, ducting runs, branch lines, machine drops and an exterior collector connection. The system was installed with future servicing and maintenance access in mind.

The installation was coordinated to suit project documentation, including seismic fixing requirements with reference to AS 1170.4 earthquake actions, and fire-services coordination around hydrant infrastructure requirements referencing AS 2419.1 where relevant.
